How to scroll lyrics on a tablet when your hands are busy
The pianist is sitting at the instrument, both hands on the keyboard. The song is playing and the lyrics reach the bottom of the screen. To scroll, they would have to take a hand off - and lose the rhythm or the melody line. Lyricco has four ways to deal with this, and none of them needs your hands off the instrument.
Way 1 - auto-scroll
The simplest solution: the lyrics scroll by themselves. In Lyricco you turn auto-scroll on with one button on the screen, and the speed matches the length of the lyrics - so the text moves at the pace of singing a typical song. If a song is slower or faster, you move the slider in Quick actions. The time you set is saved with the song, so next time the speed is already right.
In a band, auto-scroll runs on every synced screen at once - every musician is at the same point in the song, even if one has a phone and another a large tablet. When someone scrolls by hand, everyone else moves with them.
Way 2 - a Bluetooth pedal
Lyricco supports page-turner pedals (e.g. AirTurn, PageFlip) that connect to the tablet like a keyboard. Pressing the pedal scrolls the lyrics down, and at the end of the song moves to the next song in the setlist. The second pedal button scrolls up or goes back to the previous song. It is a good solution for solo players - a singer with a guitar or a pianist without a band.
Way 3 - touch zones
If you have a moment for one tap, you don't need to aim for a small button or swipe. Tapping the bottom part of the screen scrolls the lyrics smoothly half a screen down, the top part - up. Tapping the right edge moves to the next song, the left edge - to the previous one.
Way 4 - someone in the band scrolls for you
In Lyricco there is no "master" device and the rest. Any musician can scroll the lyrics or change the song at any time - and the change appears immediately on every synced device. In practice you can agree at rehearsal who looks after the lyrics during which songs: during a piano and vocal number the singer scrolls the pianist's lyrics with one finger, during a guitar number - whoever has a free hand.
What it looks like on stage
Before the set you tap the Shared screen icon in the app's top bar and start sync - over the internet or locally over Wi-Fi, without internet. The other devices join. From then on, scrolling, auto-scroll and changing the song on one device show up on all of them.
Scrolling is smooth - the text moves continuously, without jumping between pages, so you don't lose the line you are reading.
